take-home kit on numeracy and language & literacy (july 2020)

During my 6-month internship, I was tasked to create a take-home kit for my focus child that I have selected. As I noticed that he required more help with his numeracy and language concepts, I decided to create a toolkit based on the storybook "Steam train, Dream train" by Sherri Duskey Rinker. He also has a huge interest in transport vehicles like trains and buses which is another reason why I selected this book. The toolkit contains three different activities, two on language and one on numeracy.

e-storybook on land transport vehicles  (july 2020)

During my 6-month internship, I was tasked to design a e-storybook for the Kindergarten 2 children. As I also had to create a lesson plan based on the e-storybook, I chose to use land transport vehicles as the theme and numeracy as the topic for the lesson.

JIGGLE, READ AND RHYME PROJECT (july 2019)

My group members and I were tasked to plan a Jiggle, Read, and Rhyme program for children between the ages of 1 and 3 at the National Library Board located at Bedok. This project was done as a part of a service-learning module, Collaboration with Families and Communities. We had to write up a proposal and presentation for the librarians to approve before actually implementing the event. The theme that we chose was family love and we had to choose different books and songs that we could use during the event that matched the theme. We also picked a few book recommendations for the parents who attended the event. After the event ended, we sent out e-feedback forms to the parents and received a great response which indicated the success of the event. It was enjoyable for the parents, children as well as my group members and me.

Math toolkit (june 2019)

This is the math toolkit that my group members and I did for my EMATH (Early Mathematics) module. We did the toolkit based on the book "Grandma's Tiny House" by Jay-Nay Brown to teach children more about the different math concepts. The activities in the toolkit are of different difficulty levels

Lapbook (JAN 2019)

This is the lapbook that my group members and I did for my LADEL (Language and Literacy) module. We did the lapbook based on the book "If I ran the zoo" by Dr. Seuss to help the children improve their language skills. We came up with different activities with different levels of difficulty for the children.

preparing a meal for children

(may 2018)

My group was tasked to come up with a meal for children aged 5 to 6 for one of the modules in my course, Children's Health & Socio-emotional Well-being. We had to come up with a main dish, a drink as well as a dessert. For the main dish, we used carrots, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, chicken breast and a mixture of brown and white rice. For the drink, we made a banana milkshake using bananas and low-fat milk. For the dessert, we made apple donuts using apple slices, yoghurt and a mixture of fruits.

Nutrition poster (may 2018)

This is a nutrition poster that I did for my CHSE (Children’s Health & Socio-emotional Well-being) module. The target audience is parents and children. The topic I chose to focus on is balanced diet as I felt that having a balanced diet is not being enforced enough, especially when it comes to young children.
